Possible technical glitches
The screw motors amy withdraw more than 5A of current leading to burnout of the power transistors on the H-Bridge circuit if proper system for heat removal is not provided.
If using a USB to serial convertor for communication the circuit should be switched on before the convertor is plugged into the computer.
A delay has been used for switching the gearbox motor for allowing it to switch between "Land" and "Water" modes. This delay may vary from time to time.It is thus advisable to use current sensors to detect whether the gears are engaged properly instead of assuming a fixed time delay.
Cost
The total cost of the project was close to 20,000 INR , inclusive of the cost of arena preparation. The total budget approved for this project was 60,000 INR . In beginning we roughly estimated our budget hoping we would get the screws, gearboxes, bellows, etc made .But due to the fact that manufacturers disagree to give two or three screws, made up of UHMWPE, we made almost every system, the cost dipped .We used motors that were not as powerful as the ones we proposed because practical tests showed that there was no need for such powerful motors. We also did not use batteries as all of them were heavy than what was acceptable.
